- RipAI for Word
- Your experts make every document
- right in Word
- Only the author knows which version is current, who it applies to and what it replaces. RipAI for Word builds AI readiness in as experts write: it guides their structure, captures the business context, and exports files prepared for AI. No code. No IT project.
- One AI-readiness score for where the document is going
- Guided fixes that explain why each issue matters
- A Context Backbone kept inside the document
- Sign off, then export Markdown, HTML or an AI-ready PDF

- Why RipAI for Word
- AI readiness is an authoring job,
- not a data engineering exercise
- Same AI. Same question. A different document.

- How it works
- If they can use Word,
- they can make it AI-ready
- RipAI for Word is a task pane beside the open document. It works on one document at a time, and the author chooses every change. Making a document AI-ready is mostly using Word properly: real heading styles, real lists and tables, and the context only the author knows.
- The Context Backbone
- So your AI knows
- which policy is current
- A well-structured document can still lead to wrong answers if it never says whether it's approved, who owns it, when it takes effect or what it replaces. Even a perfect conversion can't supply context that was never written down. The Context Backbone is where the author records it, once, inside the document. RipAI for Word fills in what it can, and missing critical facts hold the score back.
- See it fill in on the video
- What you get
- One signed-off source.
- The right file for each use.
- Everything the author records stays inside the Word document, which remains the record. Once it's signed off, RipAI for Word exports it for where it's going: Markdown for AI tools and knowledge bases, HTML for the web, and an AI-ready PDF for the document of record. One document at a time, by design.
- Export Markdown
- Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude and knowledge bases
- A clean text version of the document, with its Context Backbone and provenance in YAML front matter, and numbered notes on anything it couldn't carry across. Built for retrieval, one document at a time.
- Websites, intranets and content management systems
- A web version prepared for your accessibility review, as a standalone page or a CMS fragment, with its page title and content language set.
- Export AI-ready PDF
- The document of record and public downloads
- Inside the document
- The Word file stays the record
- RipAI for Word writes into the document's own properties. It never overwrites Word's audit trail and never changes Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels, so what you record goes wherever the file goes.
- Context Backbone in document properties
- Identity, governance, lifecycle and context facts saved in the document itself, not in a separate database, so they move with the file through email, shared drives and SharePoint.
- Document Information Table
- Sign-off record
- Written into the document's properties when you sign off: the score, destination, date, and how many issues were fixed or set aside. It records completed checks, not a conformance assessment.
- See it in action
- Make every document AI-ready,
- at the source
- Watch AI give a wrong answer about a meal allowance, then watch the policy behind it become a signed-off, AI-ready document in Word. RipAI founder John Austin walks through each step.
- Platform and privacy
- Runs inside Word.
- Your document content stays local.
- RipAI for Word analyzes the document inside Word and never sends document content to any server. It calls no AI service and needs no account. It installs per user, with no admin rights, on the Windows desktop.

- Practical questions
- Before you take the next step
- Put AI readiness in the hands of the people who write your documents
- Request a demo to see a policy go from Not ready to signed off inside Word, and talk through a beta for your team. Or take a first look at one of your own documents with our free web check, a separate tool with its own results.
- Evaluate your own document
- RipAI for Word Score tab showing an AI-readiness score of 91 marked Not ready because two questions are still unanswered, with the score bands and Readiness by area.
- One honest score, and what holds it back
- Answer "Where will this document be used?" (a working file, a shared index or published), then choose Scan this document. Scanning changes nothing. You get one 0-100 AI-readiness score, its band and Readiness by area. Unanswered questions keep it from Ready.
- A Should fix finding, Italic used as a sub-heading, with its Why this matters panel, the quoted line and its paragraph, and Show me and Not an issue buttons.
- Straight to each issue, in plain language
- Fix guidance for Italic used as a sub-heading, with Why, How to fix and Example tabs, a Why it matters explanation and a best-practice note.
- Understand the fix, not just apply it
- Every issue opens guidance written for authors: why it matters, how to fix it, and an example. Good structure becomes habit, so the next document starts closer to ready.
- The Info tab's Context backbone card, with every critical fact recorded and the Identity, Governance and Lifecycle groups complete.
- Record what only the author knows
- On the Info tab, record identity, governance, lifecycle and context. RipAI for Word fills in what it can and reuses your saved lists and defaults. The author adds only what they know, then chooses Save to document.
- Document sign-off recorded: AI readiness marked AI-ready and Accessibility review signed off, with a note that it records the completed checks and reviews, not a conformance assessment.
- Signed off before it goes anywhere
- Sign off document unlocks when nothing marked Must fix remains, every question is answered and the score is high. It writes a sign-off record into the document's properties. Add Word review comments first if a colleague should look.
- A signed-off document with the Export documents menu open, offering Export Markdown, Export HTML and Export AI-ready PDF.
- Export it for where it's going
- Once the document is signed off, export Markdown for AI tools, HTML for the web, or an AI-ready PDF with your document information embedded. A document that has changed since sign-off has to be checked again.
- The wrong answer
- Scored for AI readiness and accessibility
- What to fix, where, and why
- Easy to add, so your AI knows which policy is current
- Sign it off and export it for AI
- Same question, the right answer
